Suicide is a crime, but can you blame them? || Back to top

I can't help but feel disturbed about the growing cases of people who commit suicide. Nobody truly understands how they felt or what they've been through during the times they were still alive. All that is left to us are just mere suicide notes and unanswered questions of "why they did it?"

Lately, I've been reading a lot of news from the net about stars who committed suicide. One story about a korean actress who hanged herself caught my full attention. Her name is Jang Ja Yeon. She was one the '3 mean girls' from the korean soap Boys Over Flowers, which I also followed on tv series, but eventually bought the dvd copy of it to watch it in full version! She's one hell of a pretty woman and she's almost perfect i must say. It kinda breaks my heart that she killed herself because of depression. Not to mention that she already had undergone treatment for depression when her parents died in a traffic accident in Korea some years ago. She was raped by her manager and was also forced to provide sexual favors to some bigshots in the entertainment industry in exchange of advancement for her career. This was against her will. She felt like a prostitute. This was not what she wanted. She even left a lengthy suicide note, revealing the names of the so-called Bigshots and wanted to have the head of the agency which she used to work with be punished.

Funny that until now, I'm still affected by what had happened to her. I mean, someone or somebody could have prevented her from committing suicide! She just needs a person who can make her understand that life isn't so bad at all. That she's not alone with her struggles in life. Fame, career, lost of a loved one or whatever it may be...taking your own life is not the answer. I just wish that she finds peace wherever she may be right now. And hopefully, tragic things like this never happen again. Well, we all take life in a different way and in a different perspective. What matters most is how we deal with it.

Rest in peace JJY.
